Sdn Orchestration Layer Implementation Considerations

چکیده
Parts I and II of this four paper series detailed how software-defined networking (SDN) and a complementary initiative, network functions virtualization (NFV), are enabling a more flexible networking architecture compared to traditional approaches that use fixed-function network elements. They also described the high-level hardware and software requirements for the SDN four architectural layers,1 and the available Intel reference designs and tools that can help reduce development time. This paper, Part III, focuses on the orchestration layer and its need for enhanced awareness of platform capabilities, including devices such as acceleration engines, attached to node platforms via PCI Express* interfaces. After reading the paper, one will be able to describe ways OpenStack* is evolving to more fully utilize node platform capabilities, leading to increased NFV performance.

متن کاملPanopticon: Reaping the Benefits of Incremental SDN Deployment in Enterprise Networks
The operational challenges posed in enterprise networks present an appealing opportunity for automated orchestration by way of Software-Defined Networking (SDN). The primary challenge to SDN adoption in the enterprise is the deployment problem: How to deploy and operate a network consisting of both legacy and SDN switches, while benefiting from simplified management and enhanced flexibility of ...
متن کاملEfficient Service Chaining Framework based on Software Defined Network for Domain Independent
With the advent of data centers, we are able to efficiently store and manage importanct data. In addition, data centers that are connected to the internet provide cloud services so that we can access data centers and download data anytime and anywhere. However, the cost of initial data center construction is high and spatial and administrative costs are high. Recently, service chaining (SC)tech...
متن کاملOrchestrating Service Function Chaining in Cloud Environments
The rapid emergence of Software Defined Networks (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) concepts is enabling the innovation of cloud infrastructures for supporting real time services and applications. Interconnecting Service Functions (SFs) in a specific ordered way to support applications’ requirements is defining the concept of Service Function Chaining (SFC). SFC uses those evolved ...
متن کاملDynamic Construction Scheme for Virtualization Security Service in Software-Defined Networks
For a Software Defined Network (SDN), security is an important factor affecting its large-scale deployment. The existing security solutions for SDN mainly focus on the controller itself, which has to handle all the security protection tasks by using the programmability of the network. This will undoubtedly involve a heavy burden for the controller. More devastatingly, once the controller itself...
